How do I get a Binance API key?

Select your preferred API Key type. System-generated API keys use HMAC symmetric encryption. You’ll get the API key and the Secret Key. Self-generated API keys use Ed25519 or RSA asymmetric encryption. You’ll receive an API key, but you have to create your own public-private key pair via third-party software and provide the public key to Binance.

Does Binance API use a shared secret key?

Binance API uses the same shared secret key to verify your signature. HMAC signatures are quick to compute and compact. However, the shared secret must be shared between multiple parties which is less secure than asymmetric cryptography used by Ed25519 or RSA keys. HMAC keys are deprecated.

What is a Binance API?

Creating an API allows you to connect to Binance’s servers via several programming languages. Data can be pulled from Binance and interact with external applications. You can view your wallet and transaction data, make trades, and deposit and withdraw funds in third-party programs.
